With the new year approaching, many people will partake in the popular tradition of making a New Year’s Resolution. Yet, according to Forbes, nearly 80% of people abandon their New Year’s resolutions by February every year. A popular study published by the Society of Personality and Social Psychology states that only 9% of Americans actually achieve their New Year’s Resolution.

With those statistics, it might seem frivolous to participate. But just last week, Magid released a press release stating that stress in the workplace costs U.S. industries 300 billion dollars annually. Managing workplace stress, preventing injuries, and protecting employees’ overall health and safety is essential to any safety program and can’t be achieved without proper goal setting.

According to the Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA), “If you focus on achieving goals, monitoring performance, and evaluating outcomes, your workplace can progress along the path to higher levels of safety and health achievement.”

For these reasons, safety experts at Magid encourage safety professionals to set their sights on building a better safety culture in the New Year. To help safety managers join the 9% of Americans who achieve their New Year’s resolution, the national PPE manufacturer and distributor is providing free, fast, actionable, and practical resources that will keep workers safe and make the job of safety managers easier. These resources include:

  • 1-Hour “Building a Better Safety Culture” Webinar
  • Access to the Safety Matters® Resource Center including:
    • 5 Steps to Creating a Safety Culture
    • 5 Tips to Improve Your Workplace Safety Culture
  • Fun Safety Videos for Employees
  • Ready-to-Use Safety Training Presentations
  • Workplace Safety Reminder Posters

Looking for additional guidance in reaching a 2023 safety goal? Consider a Safety Assessment to maximize efficiency and safety. Magid’s Smart Safety Assessments are designed to provide valuable advice on increasing workers’ safety, lowering costs, standardizing PPE, and even avoiding OSHA fines.
