Samsara Releases Safety Report: Benchmarking the Future of Safety

Samsara just released the Samsara Safety Report: Benchmarking the Future of Safety. It is a global analysis of 2.6K fleets that leverages anonymized, aggregated outcomes from Samsara’s ~20T annual data points and billions of miles driven over the first 30 months of platform tenure.
Key findings from the report include:
- AI drives greater impact. Fleets that implemented Samsara’s complete AI safety solution—including dual-facing AI Dash Cams, in-cab alerts, and driver coaching—achieved a 73% reduction in crash rates over 30 months, nearly 2x the general improvement of fleets overall.
- Customers using dual-facing dash cams saw an aggregate crash-rate reduction more than 2x greater than those with front-facing cameras alone, thanks to real-time visibility and driver feedback.
- Safety improvements happen quickly—and compound over time. Within the first six months on Samsara, fleets with 175+ vehicles in aggregate saw a 49% decrease in harsh events and an 84% decrease in mobile usage. After 30 months, those reductions deepened to 69% and 96%, respectively.
- Better safety means better compliance. In aggregate, fleets with 175+ vehicles saw significant improvements in their CSA scores after 30 months on Samsara, including a 43% improvement in Unsafe Driving, 57% in HOS Compliance, and 83% in Controlled Substances/Alcohol.
