Protective Industrial Products Acquires Bouton

June 6, 2011

Protective Industrial Products, Inc. (PIP), a leading supplier of personal protective equipment, announces its acquisition of the Bouton brand and the Bouton safety glass and safety goggle business. PIP will market the Bouton selection of safety glasses and safety goggles together with the Bollé Safety line of eyewear and the company’s Safetygear by PIP™ line of eyewear. PIP will acquire the business by June 3rd and will begin shipping the product line during the week of June 6th to its extensive industrial distributor network.

This acquisition does not include the Lavoptik™ eyewash, VisionAid™ eyewear cleaning products or eyewear accessories. Those products will continue to be available through the Wareham Massachusetts location. The H. L. Bouton Company will change its name and continue to operate offering those products to distribution.

Bouton is an American industrial success story. The company was founded in the 1940’s to produce eye protection devices for welders, chippers, and workers exposed to risk in such occupations as tool grinding and other heavy metal shaping and machining operations. It was the first American company to make eye protection equipment the central focus of its business. “Since its founding, Bouton has been a cornerstone in non-prescription safety eyewear products. The addition of the Bouton line will add significantly to the choices that our customers demand,” said Joe Milot, President of PIP.

“The Bouton brand and product line represents a great addition to our eye protection product line,” said Robin Roberts, VP of Sales at PIP. “PIP, a successful marketer of innovative brands, is a recognized industry leader of world class sales and customer service. Bouton’s line will enable us to offer a larger array of eyewear products to satisfy more of the unique needs that exist in the safety market.”

“Protective Industrial Products was built on a solid reputation for new products and the Bouton brand will further enhance their position as a market leader. We are pleased to have PIP carry on the Bouton brand for many years to come” commented David Miller, President, H.L. Bouton.
