3M H-700 Series Hard Hat with Uvicator™ Sensor monitors ultraviolet light-exposure

Workers have an easy way to monitor their hard hat exposure to the sun thanks to the new 3M H-700 Series Hard Hat equipped with a Uvicator™ Sensor. The smart sensor changes color from red to white as the hard hat is exposed to ultraviolet (UV) light, alerting the wearer when it’s due for a replacement.

“Over time, the sun’s UV rays can cause a hard hat’s shell to become brittle and compromise its ability to protect the wearer,” says Chris Dujovski, product manager, Head, Eye and Face safety business, 3M. “Adding a sun-smart sensor to our H-700 hard hats helps provide an easily observable indication when it’s time to take the hard hat out of service due to UV light overexposure.”

Like all 3M H-700 hard hats, the latest model delivers light-weight protection and durability for extended comfort. All H-700 hard hats feature a low-profile design for stability and balance and include accessory slots for 3M’s cap-mounted earmuffs, head gear, faceshields and welding helmets.

The H-700 hard hat with Uvicator™ Sensor is available with a four-point ratchet suspension, in both vented and non-vented versions. The non-vented hard hat meets the requirements of ANSI/ISEA Z89.1-2009 Type I, Class C, G and E, while the vented version meets the requirements of ANSI/ISEA Z89.1 Type I, Class C.
