Exhibitor and visitor increase at OS+H ASIA 2012

October 4, 2012

Convention NewsThe recent staging of OS+H Asia, 8th Occupational Safety & Health Exhibition for Asia, in Singapore concluded with a strong increase in exhibitor and visitor participation: 163 exhibiting companies from 22 countries showcased their products to 5,918 trade visitors - with 20% coming from overseas, primarily from Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand. With the more than 15% growth in the number of visitors and the distinct increase of exhibitors, this was the highest ever turnout since the trade fair’s premiere in 1998 and confirmed OS+ H Asia’s status as the region’s leading event for the occupational safety and health sector. The impressive result also reinforces the growing demand for new and enhanced workplace safety and health products as Singapore becomes an industry leader in implementing and advocating workplace safety and health practices.

“OS+H Asia 2012 is a vibrant event and the only one of its kind in the region, and the number of loyal and pleased visitors and companies who have committed to exhibit with us in two years’ time is a true testimony of that,” stated Gernot Ringling, Managing Director of Messe Düsseldorf Asia. “We will continue to work with the industry to raise the bar for OS+H Asia and further enhance its position as a must attend event in Asia. We remain committed to providing the industry with the best location to network and find the best in products, training and innovative solutions for better workplace safety and health.”

Seet Choh San, President of the Singapore Institution of Safety Officers (SISO), and joint organizer of the Forum on Workplace Safety & Health, added: “SISO is once again delighted to support OS+H Asia. This exhibition is significant for us as Singapore moves from just practicing safety to changing the culture of safety. We are pleased that Messe Düsseldorf Asia is promoting workplace safety and broadening the knowledge and outreach to show people how to do it right and how to do it well.”

The International Powered Access Federation (IPAF), a non-profit federation focusing on the safe use of MEWPs (Mobile Elevated Work Platforms), organized the first IPAF Asia Conference during OS+H Asia 2012. Tim Whiteman, Managing Director of IPAF, explained: “One of the reasons for exhibiting at OS+H Asia is the growing number of members in Singapore whom we want to support with our presence here. The exhibition is very successful for us as we had a number of high-level meetings, including representatives from the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) but also construction companies and contractors. This is an attractive opportunity for us and our members to promote the safe use of MEWPs since the interest in Singapore is huge.”

According to a survey, four out of five exhibitors confirmed the importance of OS+H Asia and plan to return at the next staging in 2014. According to Muhd Zico, Trainer at QMT Industrial & Safety Pte Ltd: “OS+H Asia 2012 was definitely even better than the previous edition. It has been a great exhibition and we met clients from Vietnam, Thailand and Brunei. We have been an exhibitor since the very first OS+H Asia event and for us this is the best safety and health exhibition. We will definitely come back in 2014.”

For first time exhibitor Paramount Safety Products, OS+H Asia 2012 was an ideal event to discover the business opportunities in the region. “We are exhibiting at OS+H Asia to show our new product – THORZT – for the first time in Asia. This is a perfect opportunity to check the business opportunities here. The exhibition has been amazingly successful and we achieved a very good understanding of the market potential. We have had visitors from all over Asia at our booth. We met a lot of potential distributors, more than we expected. This has been a great show to launch our new product and to see what is going on in the Asian safety market,” commented Will Bird.

“The exhibition has been excellent for us. We saw great interest in our products and received a lot of interesting enquiries. We will definitely come back in two years for the next edition,” said Nick Sowden, Global Supply Chain Director / President of Snorkel Asia, Snorkel.

“OS+H Asia is the only platform for workplace safety and health and we are extremely satisfied with the quantity and quality of the visitors at our booth,” concluded Willard Chong, Marketing Manager, QSS Safety Products (S) Pte Ltd.

OS+H Asia is scheduled to return to Singapore from September 10 - 12, 2014.
