Workrite sets standard in garment safety with NFPA 2112 certifications and external labels

February 13, 2013

Vendor NewsWorkrite Uniform Company, Inc., a leading provider of flame-resistant (FR) workwear worldwide, is taking their FR garment certifications to a new level of safety: certifying a wide variety of garments to the NFPA 2112 standard and accompanying those certified garments with a visible external label—the first FR garment provider to do so.

It is more common for FR fabrics to be NFPA 2112 certified, but Workrite takes an extra step to certify the whole garment, offering one of the broadest assortments of certified garments in the industry. An extra external label being added to certified garments allows customers to be sure their employees are wearing NFPA 2112-certified garments with a quick visual confirmation (there is also the required internal label on each certified garment).

NFPA 2112 is a national consensus standard: “Standard for Flame-Resistant Garments for Protection of Industrial Personnel Against Flash Fire.” This safety standard specifies the minimum design, performance, certification requirements and test methods for FR garments used by employees at risk for flash fire. Workrite offers more than 160 NFPA 2112-certified styles that use multiple fabrics and colors, including Nomex® IIIA, Protera®, Ultra Soft® and Tecasafe® Plus. Each certified style is third-party tested annually, and Workrite continuously certifies additional styles to meet customer needs.

“Certifying our garments to NFPA 2112 guarantees that those garments have been audited as a finished product—the fabric, the trim items and the whole garment itself,” says Carol Krebs, general manager for industrial workwear at Workrite. “Plus, our unique external labeling gives our customers immediate confirmation that their employees are wearing the necessary protective clothing. We strive to provide the highest-quality FR workwear available, and that means going above and beyond to ensure that our garments meet the most stringent safety standards around.”

For more information on NFPA 2112 requirements or any additional detail about Workrite’s certified styles, please contact Workrite’s manager of customer service, Cathy Bennett, at (805) 981-6502, or call Danny Bracco at (805) 498-8718 x 106 to set up an interview with a Workrite executive.
