Werner gives consumers a helping hand with online ratings and reviews

New functionality improves shopping experience through consumer-provided insight and feedback on Werner ladders and climbing equipment

February 19, 2013

Vendor NewsWerner Co., the world leader in the manufacturing and distribution of ladders and climbing equipment, today launched an online ratings and review program designed to better help customers select and purchase the right climbing products for their needs. Consumers are now able to provide real-time feedback and reviews of Werner’s products on both the company’s and retail partners’ websites, including Lowe’s, Home Depot and Grainger.

The new ratings and reviews functionality on Werner’s website allows consumers to rate each Werner product based on durability, features and value as well as assign an overall rating for the specific product. End users will be able to search reviews by product and sort by the highest/lowest rating or by top contributors. In addition, profile information provided by each person posting a review—including level of expertise, industry specialty, gender and home ownership status—will help consumers assess the applicability of content to their own purchase requirements. In effect, the Werner website now facilitates conversations between end-users who are sharing their product experiences and those who are reading those opinions to make more informed decisions.

“We continually look for ways to identify how our consumers use our products and the new reviews platform gives us the ability to capture this information directly from the voice of our end-users,” said Chris Filardi, Vice President of Werner Co. “Authentic ratings and reviews content is an essential tool not only for the continuous insight it provides to help shape our future product development, but also for the valuable reference data it offers to consumers looking for precisely the right Werner innovation to suit their needs.”

Along with the ability to see the ratings of approximately 1,000 Werner products, consumers can post questions on any topic, such as product specifications, general application uses or product features. Dedicated customer care representatives will respond to all questions within a 48-hour time period, filling information gaps for consumers who want assistance in identifying the right product from Werner’s complete line of professional-grade products, whether for the home or a demanding job site. The question and answer functionality can also be used to help consumers resolve any post-purchase questions they have around product usage, helping to decrease support costs and product returns.
