Southern Glove introduces Southern Innovations

Cut-and-sew division

September 12, 2013

Vendor NewsIndustrial glove manufacturer Southern Glove has announced that its Southern Innovations division, which has provided custom cut-and-sew services since the company was founded in 1997, is now accepting orders from companies who need “full package” cut and sew.

“For more than 20 years, Southern Innovations has manufactured cut-and-sew products and services for Southern Glove,” said Brent Fidler, President and CEO, Southern Glove. “Now, Southern Innovations is offering those same advanced cut-and-sew services to clients. From its facility in Honduras, Southern Innovations offers quality workmanship with labor rates comparable to China. Its excess capacity also allows Southern Innovations to offer full-package cut-and-sew services with rapid delivery of end products to U.S. markets.”

Southern Innovations’ core manufacturing capabilities include product design, pattern creation, cutting and assembly. The division manufactures a wide range of products including gloves, aprons, industrial apparel, safety vests, pet beds, protective sleeves, butcher’s frocks and chef’s coats. Southern Innovations also offers custom services such as the design and manufacture of made-to-order gloves and other products, private labeling, custom logos and labels for industrial work gloves, designs with up to four colors, and custom-imprinted hand-and-arm protection. Embroidery and screen-printing services are also available.

Like its parent company Southern Glove, Southern Innovations has been American-owned and operated in Honduras since 1997. The division has more than 60,000 square feet of manufacturing and warehousing space.  Its dedicated employees utilize technologically advanced manufacturing, incorporating new, state-of-the-art Pathfinder computerized cutting machines with new web-based ERP and customer-support software.

Southern Innovations' full-package cut-and-sew ability includes pattern creation, cutting, assembling, packing and global shipping — all products are sourced, cut, assembled, packed, imported and made available globally. Qualifying products made from materials sourced and imported are duty-free under DR-CAFTA. Its close proximity to U.S. markets gives Southern Innovations the ability to offer its clients the equivalent of one-week, factory-to-distribution center transit time. The division’s clients also benefit from Southern Innovations’ long-standing relationships with material suppliers in the USA and Central America.

Headquartered in Newton, NC, both Southern Glove and Southern Innovations are American-owned by the same family who founded Southern Glove and have operated continuously since 1945.
