Pennsylvania OSHA recognizes Cintas location in Pittsburgh as a “Star” in safety

August 26, 2014

Vendor NewsCintas Corporation (NASDAQ: CTAS) announced that its rental location in Pittsburgh has received Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) Star certification from the Pennsylvania Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). VPP is OSHA’s highest recognition for the practice of and commitment to exemplary occupational safety and health and “Star” is its highest distinction.

“We are extremely proud of our Pittsburgh employee-partners and their managers for earning the esteemed OSHA VPP Star Award,” stated Rick Gerlach, Sr. Director of Safety and Health. “In order to earn this recognition, our management and front-line partners worked closely together toward the common goal of every partner going home to their loved ones at the end of the work day safe and healthy. Our partners look forward to mentoring neighboring companies to protect the safety and health of their employees and achieve safety excellence.”

The Pittsburgh facility is the 26th Cintas facility in the nation to receive VPP designation since 2011. Cintas Corporation ranks 12th in the entire nation for the number of VPP sites overall. The designation required hard work, dedication, continuous training, rigorous audits, and 100 percent engagement between management and employee-partners.

Jim Ford, General Manager of the Pittsburgh rental location, acknowledges that “through the dedication and training to keep our facility, its employees and its customers safe, safety has become a value that is not only ingrained in our work culture, but part of our lives at home and in the community as well.”

Cintas Corporation has approximately 330 facilities throughout the world actively pursuing VPP recognition by OSHA or the equivalent under a similar certifying body. This includes operations in the U.S., Canada, the United Kingdom, Mexico and Honduras.
