U.S. Minerals cited for confined space, LOTO hazards

OSHA has cited U.S. Minerals LLC with 11 safety and health violations following a September 2013 inspection at the company’s Harvey, La. facility – but that wasn’t the agency’s first visit to one of the company’s facilities.

New Wave Plastics has been cited for 13 safety violations after OSHA found a lack of training and personal protective equipment at the company’s Cleveland facility, a recycler and plastic products supplier. After receiving a complaint in November 2013, OSHA initiated an inspection of the facility.

Headset improves clarity to help racecar drivers communicate with crews during races

3M announces a collaborative effort with Racing Electronics that has resulted in a newly designed, two-way communications headset. Roush Fenway Racing and the No. 16 3M Ford Fusion driven by Greg Biffle were the first to use the new communications headset in NASCAR racing action at the Daytona International Speedway Feb. 15-23. Ideally suited for the racetrack, the headset will help improve sound clarity between racecar drivers and their crews.
