A forklift is a powered truck used to carry, lift, or tier materials. The vehicles, also called pallet trucks, fork trucks, or lift trucks, can be powered by combustion engines or electric battery and are extremely useful and time-efficient for completing laborious construction projects. School bus safety will the focus of a National Transportation Safety Board meeting next month to consider the Special Investigation Report based on the investigation of two 2016 school bus crashes. On Nov. 1st in Baltimore, Maryland, a city school bus crossed into oncoming traffic and struck a commuter bus, killing six people.

A new federal regulation requiring commercial truck drivers to electronically log their hours is drawing both support and criticism from the trucking industry. The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) rule – which went into effect in December 2017, started requiring commercial drivers to outfit their trucks with electronic logging devices (ELDs) to replace the paper time cards the industry has used for decades.

On March 20-23, 2017, thirteen participants from the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) attended the 10th International Conference on Managing Fatigue, in San Diego, California. This year’s conference was the first held in the U.S. since 2009, and was attended by over 260 scientists and industry experts from around the world.

Tenn. truck driver declared a hazard after alcohol-related incidents

The U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) has declared Tennessee-licensed truck driver Eric Ronald Scott to be an imminent hazard to public safety and has ordered him not to operate any commercial motor vehicle (CMV) in interstate commerce. Scott was served the federal order on January 18, 2017.
