Toxic chemical release gets Ohio company 47 violations, SVEP status

December 6, 2012

After an unexpected release of hazardous materials that led to the temporary shut-down of Dover Chemical Co. and an adjacent highway in Ohio in May, OSHA has cited the company for 47 health and safety violations. Although no injuries were reported as a result of the incident, OSHA opened an investigation focused on the agency's standards for process safety management, known as PSM, at facilities that use highly hazardous chemicals.

Ga. Worker loses four fingers at recycling company

Marglen Industries Inc. in Rome, Ga. has been cited by OSHA for one willful and one serious safety violation after a worker had four fingers amputated while servicing a dust collector's airlock system at the company's facility in Rome.

OSHA  has cited Tribe Mediterranean Foods, a subsidiary of Nestle SA, that manufactures Tribe brand hummus products, for 18 alleged violations of workplace safety standards following the death of a worker at its Taunton production plant.
