OSHA has cited Coastal Plating Co. with 16 safety violations at its Corpus Christi facility. In May, an employee learning how to operate a blast cabinet was struck by a gas compressor power cylinder when it exited a cabinet. The worker died from his injuries.
Workers at many Georgia construction sites are participating in a safety stand-down that started today and runs through April 19th – which also happens to be National Highway Work Zone Awareness Week.
Struck-by accidents in the mining industry have increased sharply, according to the Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA), which issued a Safety Alert last week in an attempt to reduce that type of accident.
