One year after the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) began the largest international emergency response in agency history, the goal is the same: Get to zero new Ebola cases in West Africa.

Every year, more than one trillion gallons of water go down the drain because of household leaks. There’s a financial waste, as well; leaks may increase a water bill by as much as 10 percent. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) WaterSense program encourages consumers to celebrate the seventh annual Fix a Leak Week this week by finding and fixing water leaks in their homes.

Use of the same syringe or needle to give injections to more than one person is driving the spread of a number of deadly infectious diseases worldwide. Millions of people could be protected from infections acquired through unsafe injections if all healthcare programs switched to syringes that cannot be used more than once.
