President's proposed EPA budget largest in agency's 39-year history (2/27)

The Obama administration today proposed a budget of $10.5 billion for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the largest in the agency’s 39-year history, according to an EPA press release. The increase of $3 billion from 2008 funding levels will further ensure the protection of public health and the environment for all Americans.

Employees sickened by chemical; OSHA proposes more than $1.2 million penalty (2/27)

OSHA has cited St. Louis, Mo.-based G.S. Robins & Co., doing business as Ro-Corp Inc., for alleged willful, repeat and serious violations of federal workplace safety standards, proposing more than $1.2 million in penalties for numerous violations relating to the handling of hazardous chemicals at the company’s facility in East St. Louis, according to an agency press release.

U.S. Appeals Court upholds OSHA's hex chrome PEL (2/26)

The United States Court Of Appeals for the Third Circuit upheld OSHA’s permissible exposure limit for hexavalent chromium on Monday, denying arguments by Public Citizen Health Research Group and the United Steel, Paper and Forestry, Rubber, Manufacturing, Energy, Allied Industrial and Service Worker’s International Union, (collectively “HRG”) that OSHA’s PEL was too low.
