The circus tent that collapsed in Lancaster during a sudden downdraft of air called a "micro-burst" on Aug. 3, 2015, was not properly erected and the circus operator, Walker International Events, did not follow repeated National Weather Service storm warnings, an inspection by the OSHA has found.

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) has declared California-licensed truck driver Edward Herbert Crane to be an imminent hazard to public safety and has ordered him not to operate any commercial motor vehicles in interstate commerce. Crane was served the federal order earlier this month.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is reminding drone owners that today is deadline for registering your drone. If you own a drone weighing more than 0.55 lbs. but less than 55 lbs., and you’ve been flying it outdoors or plan to fly it outdoors for hobby or recreation, federal law requires that it be registered by February 19, 2016.

The National Transportation Safety Board has announced that its direct final rule to narrow the reporting requirement in 49 C.F.R. § 830.5(a)(10) concerning certain resolution advisories is now effective. Confirmation of today’s effective date for the amended rule appeared in the Federal Register on February 8, 2016, at 81 FR 6458.

Environmentalists are cheering the EPA’s designation of several areas in east Texas near coal-fired power plants as being out of compliance with clean air standards. The EPA said it had identified high levels of sulfur dioxide pollution in Luminant’s Martin Lake, Big Brown and Monticello coal plants.
