OSHA has cited a second large meat production company for failing to protect employees from exposure to the coronavirus.

California’s workplace safety regulator has cited a frozen food manufacturer and its temporary employment agency for failing to protect hundreds of employees from the coronavirus at two Los Angeles area plants.

OSHA has cited Smithfield Packaged Meats Corp. in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, for failing to protect employees from exposure to the coronavirus.

A coalition of more than 40 organizations is urging the federal government to take steps to protect workers at oil and gas facilities from the coronavirus. 

As complaints of retaliation against whistleblowers skyrocket during the COVID-19 pandemic, safety advocates say workers’ lives are at risk due to a slow and inadequate response from the OSHA.
