New North Force™ hard hat from Honeywell is first to provide additional back-of-head protection

February 9, 2015

North Force hard hatHoneywell (NYSE: HON) announced today the industry’s first hard hat with 24% more back-of-head coverage than standard Type I hard hats to protect workers from potentially catastrophic head injuries due to slips and falls. The patented shell design of the new North Force hard hat provides increased rear-head coverage without restricting range of motion, while an innovative rear-impact attenuator absorbs force to minimize injuries. The North Force hard hat is ideally suited for upstream oil workers, miners or workers in other industries in which slippery or icy conditions exist.

“Slips and falls are a cause of major head trauma, even death, among workers in frozen or other slick environments,” said Katie Twist-Rowlinson, product manager of Hard Hats and Welding Helmets for Honeywell Safety Products. “We listened to oil and gas industry leaders and developed a brand new hard hat category for back-of-head protection. North Force is designed specifically to meet customers’ needs to keep workers safe and comfortable in some of the toughest environments on the planet.”

The North Force hard hat is constructed of a unique, lightweight shell material that offers high-impact resistance and stands up to extreme temperature changes ranging from -30°F to 120°F. Its patented six-point suspension system with five adjustment areas, combined with its robust chin strap, allow for an ultra-customized, comfortable fit and exceptional retention. An ergonomically designed ratchet allows for quick adjustment, even while wearing gloves. The hat is easily worn with other forms of PPE and accessories, and fits comfortably with thermal liners and bulky winter gear. Available in six shell colors, white, yellow, orange, blue, red and green, the North Force hard hat can be customized with logos or safety slogans.

North Force meets ANSI and CSA Type I Class E requirements, and is available now through major safety equipment distributors in North America. Contact the Honeywell Safety Products customer care department at 800-430-5490 (U.S.) or 888-212-7233 (Canada) for more information about where the North Force hard hat may be purchased.
