Welding work ignites blaze in Tampa nightclub
Firefighters worked well into Thursday morning to extinguish an evening blaze at the Amphitheatre nightclub in Tampa's Ybor City.
WFLA reports that 7th Avenue remains closed Thursday morning between 15th and 17th streets.
Reports indicate a welder was working on the ceiling of the club when material was ignited and spread throughout the structure.
The two-story, 12-000-square-foot nightclub is an event facility at 1609 E 7th Ave.
The venue's Twitter account posted a message last night: "We thank you for your concern - Everyone is safe. We will update you as soon as we can. #AMPFam "
Two firefighters were taken to the hospital as a precaution and no other injuries were reported.
