Nominate that exemplary safety leader you know for an NSC award

December 10, 2019

The National Safety Council (NSC) is accepting nominations for five of its prestigious safety awards and designations: the Distinguished Service to Safety Award, the Marion Martin Award, the Community Advancement Award, the Teen Safety Award and Rising Stars of Safety. Winners will have advanced safety in the workplace, in the community or on the road, and will have demonstrated improvement and the effectiveness of their actions, as well as the impact their actions have had to reduce injuries and deaths.

“In the effort to eliminate preventable deaths and injuries in the U.S., we need innovative ideas, commitment and follow-through from people and organizations who take safety seriously,” said NSC President and CEO Lorraine M. Martin. “We encourage those who have worked to advance safety to apply for at least one of these prestigious awards and are excited to recognize the winners next fall.”

Nomination criteria for each award is as follows:

  • NSC Distinguished Service to Safety Award - The highest honor bestowed on a safety professional by NSC, this award recognizes exemplary efforts and success in improving safety and health at work, on the road, and in homes and communities
  • Marion Martin Award – Celebrates women who have achieved professional excellence on the international, national, regional or local level and have helped pave the way to success for other women in safety
  • NSC Community Advancement Award – Presented to an employer that provides exemplary off-the-job safety and health programs
  • NSC Teen Safety Award – Presented to an individual, organization or company that has worked to improve teen safety
  • 2020 NSC Rising Stars of Safety – Showcases safety professionals younger than 40 with a track record of proven safety leadership

Visit nsc.org/awards to nominate or learn more. Applications for the Teen Safety Award will be accepted through April 6. All other applications are due March 27. Winners will be formally recognized at the 2020 NSC Congress and Expo, which will be held Oct. 5-7 in Indianapolis.
