Will it be a problem? Safety pros split on ergo compliance
According to preliminary results of Industrial Safety & Hygiene News’ annual White Paper survey, 29 percent of safety and health pros predict complying with a final OSHA ergonomics standard will be “not at all difficult”, and 28 percent say it will be “very difficult.” Thirty-six percent believe compliance will be “somewhat difficult”, and seven percent don’t know how they would fare.
While almost three in ten safety and health pros predict compliance headaches, only 19 percent say they will need to hire an ergonomics consultant to comply with requirements.
Forty percent of the survey respondents say ergonomics will be a top safety and health priority in 2001, according to the survey.
Final results of ISHN’s 17th Annual White Paper survey will appear in ISHN’s upcoming November, December, and January 2001 issues.
