The Department of Labor in Washington, D.C., will be the site for a two-day Maritime Advisory Committee on Occupational Safety and Health (MACOSH) meeting, beginning Sept. 26, OSHA announced today.

The meeting is the first since the committee's re-establishment earlier this month that saw the addition of nine new members. Agenda items for next month's meeting will include discussions of various OSHA programs and activities, including standards and guidance, enforcement, cooperative programs, science, technology and medicine. Also on tap are discussions for forming MACOSH work groups, identification of maritime safety and health issues, and radiation screening of cargo containers.

MACOSH was established to advise the OSHA director on issues relating to occupational safety and health for workers involved in the shipbuilding, ship breaking, ship repair and long shoring in the maritime industries.
