Addivant’s Bay Minette plant: Zero lost time injuries for seventh year in a row

August 7, 2014

EHS NewsmakersAddivant™, a global leader in polymer additive technologies, announced that its Bay Minette, Ala., plant was awarded, for the seventh consecutive year, a No Lost-Time certificate from Manufacture Alabama, the state’s manufacturing association, for zero time lost due to accidents in 2013. The certificate was signed by Governor Robert Bentley of the State of Alabama, and presented to Andrea Blair, Addivant’s Bay Minette site manager, at Manufacture Alabama’s Safety/Health/Human Resources conference held in Orange Beach, Ala., in May.

“We are very proud of the men and women operating the Bay Minette plant,” said Andrea Blair, site manager, Addivant. “As a company, we adhere to best-in-class industry safety standards to provide a safe, efficient and productive work environment for our employees and ensure consistent supply for our customers. This award demonstrates our ongoing commitment to safety and the effectiveness of our practices.”

The Bay Minette plant, which has been in operation since 1975, is ISO 9001: 2008 and RC14001: 2008 certified. It is dedicated exclusively to the styrene and styrene derivatives industry and manufactures NAUGARD® I-5 inhibitor, the industry’s flagship polymerization inhibitor for styrene monomer manufacturers. The facility is located 35 miles northeast of Mobile, Ala.

Manufacture Alabama is the state’s only trade association dedicated to manufacturers. The organization’s annual Safety/Health/Human Resources conference provides plant, safety, health and human resource managers with educational and networking opportunities to help improve the safety practices at their facilities. The No Lost-Time certificate, part of its Safety Achievement program, serves as a motivational tool to encourage and reward good safety performance and provides a standard method of measuring safety performance.
