An Alabama contractor was sentenced to three years of supervised probation and 30 hours of community service after pleading guilty to lying to OSHA about an accident at one of his work sites.
A construction worker fell from the roof of the Minnesota Vikings’ new stadium yesterday and plunged approximately 50 feet to his death, according to news sources.
Recently in Texas, two men were seriously injured on the job. In some ways, their circumstances looked very different. They were in different cities, working for different employers. One was repairing a roof, high above the ground. The other was in a trench, about eight feet down.

OSHA compliance officers who happened to be in the area noticed residential construction workers falls from heights up to 14 feet. The inspection resulting from that observation found even more safety violations by Transformers Construction Services Inc. and Buildtronix LLC – both owned by Leanna Richardson.
Despite his request for a safety harness, a temporary worker without fall protection on a roof later fell 12 feet through the roof. His fall resulted in his hospitalization with fractured arms and severe contusions.
Eight people have died in construction-related accidents in 2015 thus far, according to the city’s Buildings Department, as many as in all of 2014; the year before, three died. Not since 2008, during the height of the last building boom, has the number of construction accidents been so high, when a rash of episodes, including two falling cranes, claimed 19 lives, according to an article in The New York Times.
According to the Centers for Disease Control, the most common construction site injuries suffered by workers include: Burns and scarring – Burns are one of the most common construction site injuries around, mainly because of the likelihood of fires and explosions on build sites. Exposed wiring, dangerous chemicals, leaking pipes, and other items all pose a potential risk for fires, which if not handled properly, could endanger nearby workers.
