The third annual workplace safety survey by Staples revealed that only half of employees believe their workplaces are prepared for emergencies, and one in five employees report slipping, tripping or falling at work as their biggest safety concern.
Cold temperatures, heavy snow, and treacherous ice storms are all risks of the impending winter season. “Severe winter weather can be dangerous and even life-threatening for people who don't take the proper precautions,” said Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Region V acting administrator Janet Odeshoo.

Fifty percent of Americans have not discussed or developed an emergency plan for family members about where to go and what to do in the event of a local disaster, according to a 2014 national survey conducted by the Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
