APHA reminds public to check emergency stockpile, support community food banks when setting clocks on November 7

The American Public Health Association, in a recent press release, encouraged all Americans to prepare their families and communities for any kind of emergency such as blizzards, floods, blackouts or influenza.

Secretary of Labor Hilda L. Solis has renewed the charter of OSHA's National Advisory Committee on Occupational Safety and Health, an agency press release states. The charter will expire in two years.

OSHA asks retailers to manage Black Friday crowds to protect workers

November 3, 2010
OSHA is encouraging CEOs of 14 major retail companies to take precautions to prevent worker injuries during Black Friday and the holiday season's other major sales events, according to an agency press release. Toward that end, OSHA has sent a letter and fact sheet on "Crowd Management Safety Tips for Retailers" to the CEOs.

MSHA kicks off annual Winter Alert campaign

The U.S. Department of Labor's Mine Safety and Health Administration kicked off its 2010 Winter Alert campaign to warn miners and mine operators about the dangers colder weather can bring to the mining environment, according to an MSHA press release. Historically, statistics show that most coal mine explosions occur during the colder months.
