Survey: Most employers see healthcare reform raising costs (2/11)

ASSE saddened by loss of committed St. Louis safety professional in plant explosion (2/10)

The American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) President C. Christopher Patton, CSP, said in a recent press release that ASSE is saddened by the sudden loss of Chris Walters, an ASSE member since 1981 who worked as a safety professional for more than 20 years. He was not only dedicated to protecting people, property and the environment, but to his wife, Fran, and their three children.

More than 175 organizations issued the following letter of support to the President, the U.S. Senate and U.S. House of Representatives to strongly support comprehensive health reform efforts, emphasizing the need to modernize and increase funding for disease prevention, wellness, and public health in the United States, according to a press release from the non-profit, non-partisan organization Trust for America’s Health.

OSHA deploys investigators to site of Connecticut power plant catastrophe (2/9

“Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families, friends and loved ones of those workers killed and injured in Sunday’s explosion in Middletown,” said Labor Secretary Hilda Solis, in a press statement issued in the aftermath of Sunday’s explosion at the Kleen Energy Plant in Middletown, Connecticut that left five workers dead and at least 12 injured. “The safety and health of workers is of paramount importance to me and to the U.S. Department of Labor. Inspectors from OSHA arrived on site Sunday afternoon to conduct a comprehensive investigation and are working in cooperation with other agencies.”
