Honeywell, Morris Township, N.J., announced
Friday it has completed its acquisition of Norcross Safety
Products L.L.C., a manufacturer of personal protective equipment (PPE), for approximately $1.2 billion.
OHSA has cited J.A.M. Construction Co. Inc. for
alleged willful, repeat and serious violations of excavation safety standards
at a Newport, R.I., worksite, an agency release reported. According to the agency,
the Middletown, R.I., contractor faces a total of $59,500 in proposed fines.
The
project, which includes the construction of two eight-story buildings and 6,000
feet of open retail space, is part of the redevelopment of southeast
Washington, D.C., near the Anacostia River and the new ballpark for the
Washington Nationals baseball team.
OSHA
and the International Union of Operating Engineers (IUOE), Local 150
Apprenticeship and Skill Improvement Program have formed an alliance to develop
training and education programs.
