Dr. Timothy Ludwig, Managing Commissioner of the Cambridge Center for Behavioral Studies’ Commission on Accreditation for Behavioral Safety, is pleased to announce that Sandy Knott, of Peru, Illinois, was recently elected to the Commission as an Associate Commissioner. Sandy was first introduced to the Center in 2004 working with Drs. Bill Hopkins and Dwight Harshbarger during the early years of our Accreditation program.

One of the deadliest industrial disasters in the history of the country – the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire - occurred in New York City on this day in 1911. The fire claimed the lives off 146 garment workers – many of whom jumped to their deaths from the 7th, 8th and 9th floors of the building in order to avoid the smoke and flames sweeping through their workplace.

Cummings Memorial Award Lecture, Mark Stenzel, CIH, FAIHA, argued that industrial hygienists should place greater emphasis on estimating exposures relative to conducting sampling. Stenzel, an industrial hygiene consultant and the 2018 recipient of AIHA’s Cummings Award for outstanding contributions to the knowledge and practice of industrial hygiene, made his remarks on the final day of AIHce EXP 2018.
