FAQs cover vital information

January 8, 2016

Have a question about ASSE Safety 2016 Professional Development Conference & Exposition, the event which is expected to draw 4,000+ occupational safety and health professionals to Atlanta, Georgia June 26-29?

The Safety 2016 website is up and running and filled with helpful information. Your first stop should be the FAQ page, where you can find details like.

CEUs: Continuing Education Credit
Full Conference: 1.8
Conference without Wednesday
Luncheon: 1.7
Wednesday-Thursday ISFP Symposium: .8
Pre & Post Conference Seminars: June 22-26 & June 29-July 2: Earn up to 6 CEUs

1 day = .7 CEU

2 days = 1.4 CEUs

3 days = 2.1 CEUs

IACET CEUs
ASSE has been accredited as an Authorized Provider by the International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET). In obtaining this approval, ASSE has demonstrated that it complies with the ANSI/IACET Standard which is recognized internationally as a Standard of good practice. As a result of their Authorized Provider accreditation status, ASSE is authorized to offer IACET CEUs for its programs that qualify under the ANSI/IACET Standard.

Conference App: The Safety 2016 App will be available for Apple devices on the App store or Android devices on Google Play (search for Safety 2016). Once you download the app, you’ll need to login the first time you use it. To login, just use the e-mail address you used when you registered for Safety 2016 and the password, “safety2016” Don’t have a smart phone? Not a problem! You can access a web version of the app, with the same great features, at this URL: safety2016.quickmobile.com. Be sure to attend the Safety 2016 App Class Sunday, June 26 from 4:15-5:00pm.

What is the Career Center? It is where job seekers go to submit resumes, view postings by companies seeking to hire a safety, health and/or environmental professional. HR professionals and recruiters will be at the career center for resume critiquing, interview skill building, and job search advice. Employers post positions and browse through resumes to seek potential employees.

Call for interactive research poster session. The American Society of Safety Engineers is pleased to announce the ASSE Interactive Research Poster Session at the Safety 2016 Professional Development Conference (PDC) to be held June 26-29, 2016 in Atlanta, GA. Safety, health and environmental educators, students, professionals, researchers and others are urged to submit original contributions related to the fields of safety, health and environment that can be displayed in an educational poster format. Download Poster Session Submission Form

New to ASSE or the PDC? Come to the Attendee Orientation where you will learn how to get around the PDC, how to facilitate networking opportunities, and how to make the most out of the conference. Be sure to attend the Attendee Orientation Sunday, June 26 from 3:15-4:15pm.

How do I get my CEUs: To receive CEUs attendees need to be present for the education hours of the sessions and participate in the learning activities provided. CEUs will be posted to your ASSE transcript in approximately 30 days after the last day of the conference.

What’s the difference between the full brochure and onsite program book? The full brochure lists the schedule and sessions/ speakers known at the time. Occasionally a speaker or session changes and an event may be cancelled. The onsite program book is the most up-to-date schedule of events.

How do I become a speaker at next year’s PDC? ASSE call for presenters deadline is in July 2016 for Safety 2017. Attend How to Prepare a Proposal to Speak at the PDC onsite. More information will be available at the conference.

Recordings: ASSE will be recording 170+ concurrent sessions. With video and slides synched to audio, you’ll be able to watch the sessions you missed (or review the sessions you liked best). Plus you can order your recordings ahead of time (see step 4 of registration!).

Badges: All conference attendees are required to wear their badge throughout the conference. Your badge allows you access to those events included in your registration fee. Badge holders will be two-toned in color and coded according to your registration.

Volunteer at PDC: Volunteer opportunities will include hotel Greeters and convention center Greeters. In addition, we are always looking for some smiling faces to assist with directing attendees to the lunches and general sessions. Download and submit our Volunteer Form.

Dress Code: While we appreciate that Atlanta can be hot and humid, casual business attire (no shorts or jeans) is appropriate attire for this professional conference. We appreciate your cooperation.

Information Booth: Stop by the ASSE Information Booth, an ASSE staff member will be available at the Information Booth to answer your questions about the conference. In addition, greeters will be on hand to help direct you. Each greeter will be easily identified by a bright yellow lanyard and welcome button.

No-Smoking Policy: For the comfort and health of all attendees, smoking is not permitted at any ASSE function.

Photographic Images: Registration and attendance at or participation in ASSE meetings and other activities constitutes an agreement by your registration to ASSE’s use and distribution, both now and in the future, of the registrant or attendee’s image or voice in photographs, video recordings, electronic reproductions, and audio recordings of such events and activities.

Program Disclaimer: ASSE will make every effort possible to avoid changes to the program and events, however, some changes may occur due to unavoidable circumstances or when deemed in the best interests of delivering the best program possible. ASSE reserves the right to make changes it deems necessary.
