The Association for Advancing Automation (A3) announces that Part 3 of the ANSI/A3 R15.06-2025 American National Standard for Industrial Robots and Robot Systems – Safety Requirements is now available for purchase, completing the full three-part standard.

The official title: American National Standard for Industrial Robots and Robot Systems — Safety Requirements.

Reference numbers:

  • ANSI/A3 R15.06-2025 (Parts 1 and 2)
  • ANSI/A3 R15.06-3-2025 (Part 3)

All three parts are published together as: ANSI/A3 R15.06-2025/ANSI/A3 R15.06-3-2025. They are offered under one cover because they are intended to be used together to support safe manufacture, integration, and use of industrial robots.

Available as a PDF download, the standard now includes:

  • Part 1: Safety requirements for industrial robots
  • Part 2: Safety requirements for industrial robot applications and robot cells
  • Part 3: NEW - Safety requirements for the use of industrial robot cells

While Parts 1 and 2 represent the U.S. national adoption of ISO 10218, Part 3 is a new, U.S.-developed standard. Because ISO standards do not address user requirements, Part 3 (ANSI/A3 R15.06-3-2025) was developed within the U.S. in collaboration with standards development experts in both the United States and Canada.

Together, these documents provide comprehensive, up-to-date guidance for robot manufacturers, system integrators, and end users, with a strong emphasis on risk assessment and worker safety in industrial environments.

This article provides more information on the standard updates.

Professionals can purchase the complete standard now through A3’s online store: https://www.automate.org/store/products/ansi-a3-r15-06-2025-american-national-standard-for-industrial-robots-and-robot-systems-safety-requirements-pdf-download
