A voluntary threshold limit value (TLV®) for hand activity level has been set by the American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists Worldwide (ACGIH®).

The limit is based on epidemiological, psychophysical, and biomechanical studies and applies to “mono-task” jobs performed for four hours or more per day, according to the group. Exposures are characterized in terms of average hand activity level and peak hand force.

For a limited time, you can download the hand activity level TLV documentation for free at www.acgih.org. Documentation will be available for purchase online at www.acgih.org/store.

ACGIH has also adopted a TLV for refractory ceramic fibers and has announced planned changes in TLVs for noise and lifting.
