A drop of about 75 percent in a tobacco-related chemical called cotinine found in humans since 1991 marks a ``dramatic reduction in exposure'' to environmental tobacco smoke, CDC officials said.

Americans have much lower levels of a tobacco-linked carcinogen in their bodies than they did a decade ago, thanks chiefly to tough anti-smoking laws, according to a national study by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
