DuPont Sustainable Solutions Releases New Powered Hand Tools Safety Training Program

October 3, 2014
VIRGINIA BEACH, Va., Sept. 30, 2014 – DuPont Sustainable Solutions has released a new tool safety training program, Powered Hand Tools: Safety Is In Your Hands, to help protect employees against the hazards of powered hand tools. It describes general precautions, the importance of personal protective equipment (PPE), and safety practices specific to a tool’s energy source.

“Powered tools are used in virtually all industries,”said Chris Scaglione, product manager, Safety & Environmental, DuPont Sustainable Solutions.“But this makes it easy for employees to take them for granted. We designed this program to alert them to the risks and help guard themselves against complacency.”Powered Hand Tools

Powered Hand Tools: Safety Is In Your Handsstresses the danger of fast-moving parts and various power sources. The program identifies various PPE for the head, ears, eyes and hands, highlighting its importance and how it can help prevent injuries.

The training program also explains the importance of proper housekeeping, including prevention of fire by removing flammable materials, correct tool use and posture, and proper storage and maintenance.

The program also identifies hazards that arise from a tool’s power source. It covers safety do’s and don’ts for electric, battery-operated, pneumatic and powder-actuated tools. It also gives the basic functions of each, explains how they work, and shows viewers how to operate them safely. This course is available as a DVD, streaming video and is coming soon as an interactive, customizable online training course.

Additional information is available by calling 800-861-2221 or emailing sales@training.dupont.com. A free online preview of these courses is accessible at www.training.dupont.com.
