The American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA) will host “Implementing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Decontamination,” an introductory TeleWeb Virtual Seminar, on October 30, 2007, from 2–4:30 p.m. EST.

Decontamination is one of the more complex and controversial issues facing end-users, manufacturers, regulators and safety professionals, says AIHA. The seminar will address when it is safe to decontaminate and reuse PPE or if it should be disposed of.

The TeleWeb will be based on two key documents: the Guideline for the Decontamination of Chemical Protective Clothing (CPC) and Equipment, and chapter 8 of the Chemical Protective Clothing Manual: Decontamination of CPC. Presenters will also share their own experiences.

Featured speakers include Curtis W. Hintz, MS, senior industrial hygienist with the Dow Chemical Company at the Global Industrial Hygiene Expertise Center; Fredric N. Bolton, MS, principal investigator with Hazmat Science Applications, Technology Management Company; Georgi I. Popov, PhD, assistant professor at the University of Central Missouri; and Nelson W. Couch, Ph.D., president of Triangle Health & Safety Inc.

Participants need Internet access and a telephone, or just a phone, to be part of this live educational event. Additionally, an archive copy of the TeleWeb will be available on CD for purchase.
