Goodway Technologies ScaleBreak-000

Goodway Technologies, a leader in industrial maintenance and cleaning solutions for 60 years, announces the launch of ScaleBreak®-000, an engineered descaling chemistry designed to deliver rapid mineral scale removal while achieving an unprecedented HMIS/NFPA hazard rating of 0-0-0. Developed for facilities where worker safety, regulatory compliance and cleaning performance are equally critical, ScaleBreak-000 represents a significant advancement in industrial descaling technology.
Unlike traditional commodity acid descalers, ScaleBreak-000 was engineered to deliver industrial descaling performance while simultaneously addressing worker safety, regulatory compliance and environmental stewardship. The result is a chemistry that enables facilities to reduce mineral scale efficiently while helping simplify chemical handling, transportation and environmental considerations.
In laboratory testing, ScaleBreak-000 demonstrated calcium carbonate dissolution rates up to two times faster than muriatic acid while eliminating many of the handling concerns traditionally associated with mineral acid descalers. The engineered formulation is readily biodegradable, generates no VOC emissions during use, and is non-regulated for transportation, allowing shipment through standard freight channels without hazardous material restrictions.
Further distinguishing ScaleBreak-000, the product has undergone independent EPA Whole Effluent Toxicity (WET) testing in both freshwater and marine environments. These evaluations provide third-party environmental data to support technical discussions regarding wastewater management following descaling operations. Because discharge requirements depend not only on the cleaning chemistry, but also on the contaminants removed from the equipment during cleaning, the WET testing provides an additional level of environmental characterization beyond traditional product certifications.
"Facilities have traditionally been forced to balance descaling performance with worker safety and environmental considerations," said Tim Fregeau, Director of Technical Sales and Business Development at Goodway Technologies. "ScaleBreak-000 was engineered to eliminate that compromise by delivering industrial-strength descaling performance together with an unprecedented 0-0-0 HMIS hazard rating and independently generated environmental data that maintenance professionals can use to support their maintenance programs."
Designed for use across a broad range of industries—including commercial HVAC, food and beverage processing, pharmaceutical manufacturing, healthcare facilities, municipal water systems, marine operations, power generation and industrial manufacturing—ScaleBreak-000 provides maintenance professionals with a high-performance descaling chemistry that supports both operational efficiency and workplace safety.
ScaleBreak-000 is NSF/ANSI/CAN 60 certified for potable water applications, NSF A8 certified for use on food processing equipment, recognized as FDA GRAS (Generally Recognized As Safe), and approved for use in select U.S. Navy mission-critical applications. Combined with independent freshwater and marine WET toxicity testing, these certifications reinforce the product's suitability for organizations focused on safety, environmental responsibility and regulatory compliance.
"As organizations continue to prioritize worker safety, environmental responsibility and operational efficiency, maintenance professionals are looking for technologies that reduce risk without sacrificing performance," Fregeau added. "ScaleBreak-000 represents the next generation of engineered descaling chemistry by combining industrial cleaning performance with an exceptional safety profile and independent third-party validation."
As facilities continue to prioritize worker safety, sustainability and operational efficiency, ScaleBreak-000 provides a new option for maintenance teams seeking high-performance descaling without the risks and complexities of traditional acid-based products.
